A Chilean brand of natural sports supplements driven by Arturo Vidal and Nia. The challenge was not the backing; it was building a brand with its own structure, capable of operating beyond a single product. A four-line portfolio and a spearhead product with South American botanical actives were defined, with an autonomous identity and narrative that turn the public figure into an engine of acquisition, not a substitute for the brand.

Description
Branding and strategy for a natural supplement brand with elite sports backing

History, challenge and transformation
Vidality is a Chilean brand of natural sports supplements and personal care products driven by Arturo Vidal and his partner Nia, both benchmarks in high-performance sport and an active lifestyle. Arturo Vidal is one of the most recognized footballers in the history of Chilean football, with spells at Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Inter Milan and the Chilean national team.
The brand was born with a structural objective: to develop a high-turnover mass product capable of capturing market share within the natural sports supplement niche, with planned expansion into personal care, eSports and complementary merchandise.
The challenge was not the emotional backing. The association with Arturo and Nia guaranteed immediate recognition and sports credibility in the Chilean and Latin American market. The challenge was to build a brand with a portfolio structure, a differentiated value proposition and a narrative of its own, capable of operating in a category globally dominated by large-scale international brands and of scaling beyond a single product.
Phase 1 · Intelligence
The analysis of the supplement market revealed two possible routes: entering through injury and hot-cold products (with higher tickets but low purchase frequency and a limited market) or entering through sports supplements (with high recurring turnover, the possibility of expanding into other lines and a direct connection with Arturo and Nia's lifestyle).
Consumer research confirmed a structural pattern: millennials (25-42 years old) think in terms of fitness, centennials (16-25 years old) think in terms of wellness. Both segments lean toward conscious consumption products, with three dominant purchase drivers: environmental impact, transparent product composition, and visual design made to be shared on social media.
GlobalWebIndex data confirmed that 60% of millennials and 58% of Generation Z are willing to pay a higher ticket for ecological and sustainable products. The opportunity was clear: a natural supplement brand, with elite sports backing, a unique formula and eco-friendly packaging, could capture that willingness to pay a premium in a category still dominated by generic or highly industrialized brands.
Phenotype® made it possible to read the association with Arturo and Nia not as a substitute for a brand, but as an engine of acquisition and initial credibility, with Vidality operating with an independent value proposition and a portfolio structure of its own.
The opportunity was not in making a licensed product.
It was in making a natural supplement brand with backing, capable of growing beyond an initial product.
Phase 2 · Structure
Based on the diagnosis, the brand proposition and the portfolio architecture were defined.
Vidality was positioned as a brand dedicated to producing natural sports supplements and personal care products for athletes and active people seeking health and wellbeing. The central promise: to combine science and nature to achieve a healthy balance, with simple, effective and transformative products.
The spearhead product was defined: Special Whey Protein, a whey protein isolate formulated with premium natural ingredients (L-glutamine, BCAA, L-arginine, glutathione, hydrolyzed collagen, ashwagandha) and enriched with South American botanical actives: maqui and chia (Chile), muira puama and açaí (Brazil). A formula unique in the market, with eco-friendly packaging and an attractive visual design, conceived to stand out on the shelf and on social media.
The portfolio was structured in four lines of planned growth:
· Natural sports supplements (Whey Protein as the launch, followed by Fat Burner, Pre-Workout and Creatine)
· Personal care (Deodorant, Hot-cold spray, Athlete's foot cream)
· eSports (Spray to improve grip and reduce hand perspiration, energizing supplement for concentration)
· Complementary merchandise (Bags, Shaker, Coolers)
The identity was built on defined attributes: innovative, motivating, natural, conscious. A custom typeface with robust lines and italics was developed, able to suggest energy and dynamism. The brand was defined to operate simultaneously in masculine and feminine universes, aligned with the real partnership between Arturo and Nia.
The identity stopped being the product's wrapper.
It became the commercial structure of an entire category.
Phase 3 · Dynamics
The brand materialized in complete applications for the launch.
The integral visual system was developed: logotype, palette, custom typeface, graphic guidelines and editorial system. The packaging of the initial product, Special Whey Protein, was designed, incorporating visual coding of nature, science and elite sports backing.
The vidalitylife.com digital platform and the social media presence under @vidality.life were built, with a tone and narrative consistent with the manifesto: balance between body and mind, goals achieved safely and sustainably, energy and vitality as a vehicle for transformation.
Campaign guidelines featuring Arturo Vidal and Nia were developed, setting out how the brand appears in activations, gym communication, social media, sporting events and product communication.
The brand was not applied as sports decoration.
It was applied as a complete system of communication, product and experience.
Results
Vidality entered the Chilean sports supplement market with a consolidated identity, a differentiated narrative and a scalable portfolio structure. The association with Arturo Vidal and Nia worked as an engine of acquisition and credibility, while the brand itself sustained the differentiated proposition of premium natural supplements with South American botanical actives.
The brand was prepared to operate in four parallel categories and to sustain the evolution of its portfolio without depending exclusively on the public cycle of the initial sports backing.
Today
Vidality continues to operate as a natural sports supplement brand in Chile and the region, sustaining the original proposition: a combination of science and nature, differentiating South American botanical ingredients, elite sports backing and careful visual design for a new generation of consumers who prioritize conscious consumption.
What this case shows
This case shows that brands associated with public figures do not have to be reduced to a licensed product.
They are built when the figure works as an engine of initial acquisition while the brand itself builds a portfolio structure, a differentiated value proposition and an autonomous narrative to grow over time.
Vidality did not need to be a product with Vidal's face. It needed to be a natural supplement brand backed by Arturo and Nia, formulated with unique South American botanical actives and designed to sustain a complete line of sports wellbeing.
That is the Phenotype® approach.
It is not about taking advantage of borrowed fame.
It is about reading the available emotional asset, combining it with a real product difference and structuring everything into a brand system that combines fast acquisition with long-term sustainability.
